Marketing Expenses and Support at CMG

At CMG Home Loans, we believe that top-tier marketing support shouldn’t require top-dollar spending from our Loan Officers. Our marketing department was built to give producers every possible advantage – so you can grow your brand, reach more clients, and deepen referral relationships without constantly reaching into your own pocket.

A Platform That Invests in You

CMG offers an extensive marketing tech stack and in-house creative support designed to meet nearly every business need – from digital campaigns to lead management, co-branded flyers to event support.

The goal? To ensure that what you need is already built so you’re not reinventing the wheel or paying out of pocket to get business done.

When You Want to Go Beyond the Platform

If you have a marketing initiative that goes beyond what CMG already provides – such as hosting an event, sponsoring a lunch-and-learn, or investing in local advertising – we’ve built a flexible support structure that allows for co-investment:

  • If pre-approved and aligned with business development goals, CMG will split costs 50/50 with the Loan Officer.
  • If the initiative supports multiple Loan Officers, the expense may be absorbed at the branch or regional level.

CMG does not offer a blanket monthly stipend. Our philosophy is simple: Let’s invest in what works, not in what’s unused or inefficient. That helps keep rates competitive and expenses purposeful.

Pre-Tax Marketing Options

CMG offers two primary ways for Loan Officers to invest in their marketing efforts using pre-tax dollars:

  1. Tech Stack Tools
    Subscriptions to tools like MBS Highway, Homebot, Mortgage Coach, and others can be deducted pre-tax when purchased through CMG’s approved tech stack platform. These tools are often offered at a corporate-discounted rate and are seamlessly integrated into your marketing workflow.
  2. Marketing Reserve Accounts
    Loan Officers can choose to allocate a fixed dollar amount from each closed loan to be set aside in a pre-tax marketing reserve account. This pool can be used for approved future expenses – without having to budget out-of-pocket.
    • Amount is set by the Loan Officer
    • Funds are held for pre-approved, compliant uses
    • Gives you control and planning flexibility for larger efforts down the road

What’s Approved (and What’s Not)

CMG is fully supportive of activities that strengthen referral relationships and generate new business. This includes:

  • Lunch-and-learns
  • Community outreach
  • Realtor education events
  • Open house sponsorships
  • Lead-generating campaigns

However, there are limits. Expenses related to alcohol – such as happy hours – are generally not reimbursed, as they introduce liability and offer limited business return. Events that involve alcohol must be carefully reviewed and may not qualify for cost sharing.
